Steve Tamborra joined the Georgia Tech staff as a player development coach in November 1999 after five years in a similar capacity at Florida State where he worked with the baseball and football teams from 1995-99.
Tamborra oversees the highly-touted strength and conditioning programs for the Georgia Tech baseball, golf and cheerleading teams.
Since his arrival over a decade ago, Tamborra has been responsible for the development and implementation of strength training regimes of many student-athletes that have gone on to play professional sports, with several of those athletes returning to Georgia Tech during their offseason to continue training with him.
He holds certifications from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Titleist Performance Institute, CrossFit, USA Weightlifting and Precision Nutrition. He has written one book, Complete Conditioning for Baseball, which was published in late 2007.
He earned his bachelor's degree in nutrition and fitness from Florida State in 1994 and a master's degree in athletic administration from Florida State in 1996.
Tamborra is married to the former Stacy Venable, a pitcher for the Florida State softball team from 1997-99. They have two daughters, Malayna and Payton, and a son, Austin. Payton and Austin are twins.
