It was good to see Chris Bosh again Sunday night and better to watch him, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade bust on their rookie teammates in the locker room after the Heat crushed the Hawks.

That was funny at times.

Although you cannot say the brief visit qualified as a homecoming for Bosh -- he played just one season (2002-'03) for Georgia Tech, after all -- he sounded like he'd like to spend more time around his old stomping grounds.

In practices leading up to the start of the season, Evan Martin has been taking grounders at second base, he's taking fly balls in the outfield, he's taking extra swings early, he's taking extra swings late.

Were he playing basketball he'd be labeled "A Gym Rat."

Since baseball players play on a field, not in a gym and "Field Mouse" doesn't really cut it as a nickname, Martin's nickname has been shortened to "The Rat."

Chelsie Thomas was able to capitalize on a throwing error by shortstop Gabby Banda and come around from first base to score the game winner as the No. 23 Georgia Tech softball team rallied in the bottom of the seventh for a walkoff 6-5 victory over No. 20 Nebraska in its final game of the Kajikawa Classic.

Sasha Goodlett had 13 points to help No. 22 Georgia Tech edge No. 22 North Carolina 56-54 on Sunday. Metra Walthour added 11 points and Tyaunna Marshall 10 for the Yellow Jackets (18-7, 8-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), who earned their first win against a ranked team in eight tries this season. Laura Broomfield had 15 points and 11 rebounds for North Carolina (17-8, 7-5), which has lost three straight - all to ranked teams. It was the first game between teams with the same ranking in women's basketball since Jan. 14, 2003, when No. 14 Mississippi State beat No. 14 Vanderbilt 78-75. STATS LLC does not have a record of a men's game matching same-ranked teams.
