CHEERLEADING TRY-OUTS:
| REQUIREMENTS: |
All participants will be required to learn a sideline and fight song, and will be expected to portray genuine enthusiasm for Georgia Tech, and a positive attitude.
Females: All females are required to do a standing back tuck, a running tumbling pass, jumps (including a single toe touch), and show a series of stunts that capture four elements (flexibility, strength, creativity/stamina in a more elite sequence of skills, and a full or double down). Males: A standing back tuck if preferred, but if you do not have this at tryouts we can teach you during the year. Males need to show a series of stunts that capture four elements as shown on the score sheet (body control, strength, creativity/stamina in a more elite sequence of skills, and a full or double down cradle). |
| WHAT TO BRING: |
Please bring water each day, tape and pre-wrap each day (if needed), and lunch or a snack on May 6th.
IMPORTANT: Any participant in Georgia Tech Cheerleading and Buzz tryouts must present a sports physical dated within the past twelve months either via email, fax, mail, or upon registering at tryouts. Incoming freshmen will need to present a copy of their acceptance letter at tryouts. |
| WHAT TO WEAR: |
Both males and females trying out are asked to wear Georgia Tech apparel or Georgia Tech colors (white, navy, gold, or black) each day to tryouts. You are expected to come game-ready to tryouts: for females, this means full game day makeup and hair; for males, clean-shaven and well groomed.
Sunday: Females are required to wear a white sports bra with navy or black shorts or spandex. Males are required to wear a white t-shirt with navy or black shorts. |
| SCORE SHEETS: | Please follow the link here for a sample score sheet. We will go over the score sheet in full on Friday, May 4th. |
Buzz hopefuls will attend a clinic that will teach the basics of Buzz. This includes how to stand, how to walk, how to do the Buzz flip, learn Buzz mannerisms, what a day in the life of Buzz is like. On the final day of try-outs, you will be expected to perform a skit in the Buzz costume. The skit should make sense, use Buzz mannerisms and Buzz's signature move, the Buzz Flip. You can and are encouraged to use music and props. Bee Creative!
