Before Tech: A four-year member on the swim team at Marvin Ridge High School under head coach Melissa King-Pierce ... Ranked as high as No. 5 overall in the state of North Carolina for the class of 2017 ... A three-time all-conference performer ... Led his team to three-straight conference titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015 ... Was a state champion in the 200 free (1:42.23) with a first-place finish at the 2016 North Carolina 3A State Championships ... Also placed fourth overall in the 50 free (21.58) at the state championship meet as a junior in 2016 ... Finished eighth overall in the 200 free (1:47.20) as a sophomore at the 2015 North Carolina 3A State Championships ... A member of the SwimMAC Carolina club team ... Chose Tech because it is an outstanding engineering school, the swim team and the facilities and, because it is somewhat close to home ... Intends to major in computer engineering.
