As A Freshman In 2011-12: Was Tech's leader in the distance freestyle and the 400 IM as a rookie... Paced the Jackets in both the 1,000 free and 1,650 free, and was the team's second-fastest in the 500 free... Swam to an 18th-place finish in the 500 free at the ACC Championship with a season-best time of 4:54.08 (fifth on Tech's all-time list)... Was 19th in the 1,650 free at the ACC Championship in 17:01.51 (third all-time at Tech)... Was 19th in the 400 IM at the ACC Championship in a season-best time of 4:24.07, which ranks second on Tech's all-time list... Won both the 500 free and 1,000 free in the dual meet versus Liberty and North Dakota, putting down a 1,000 time of 10:07.52 to also rank second on Tech's all-time list.
Before Tech: Home Schooled ... Attended the National Select Camp in 2007 ... Was the Southern Zone record holder in the 400-Free in 2008 ... A finalist at Junior Nationals in 2009 and 2011 ... Swam for Sarasota YMCA Sharks under Steve Brown and Mark Matuszak ... a finalist at Speedo Long Course Junior Nationals for three years and a finalist at NCSA Junior Nationals for six years.
Personal: Born Kathryn Alyson Woolbright on September 25, 1992 in Charlotte, N.C. ... Parents are Guy and Diana Woolbright ... Sister to Alex ... Mother, Diana, was a swimmer at South Carolina ... Chose Georgia Tech because of the academics, the team atmosphere and the coaching staff ... Enjoys basketball and writing ... Started swimming at the age of six ... Most memorable swimming accomplishment was getting a trial cut in the 800 free at Juniors ... Plans to major in Biology.
