Tech Swimming & Diving Wins On Senior Day
Senior Jake Johnson won both the 50 and 100 free

THE FLATS - The Georgia Tech swimming and diving teams celebrated Senior Day on Saturday and the Yellow Jackets led wire-to-wire in beating Darton College in the final regular-season meet of the season. The men defeated the Cavaliers, 136-82 and the women won, 127-42.
Senior Jake Johnson won both the 50 free (21.08) and 100 free (46.46), while classmate and captain Nicholas Colletti brought home the victory in the 100 back (50.16) to lead the Yellow Jackets. Sophomore Erika Staskevicius was the winner in both the 50 free (24.25) and the 100 free (53.74) to pace the women.
"Senior Day is always a special meet and an emotional one," said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. "We had some good swims today and now the real work begins as we start to prepare for the championship season. I like the mindset of our teams right now, and with good work over the next two weeks, I expect us to be very successful in Greensboro at the ACC Championship."
Tech's relays got things started as the women's 200 medley of Carly Sweeney, Darelle Cowley, Kate Brandus and White put down a winning time of 1:47.97. The men's relay of Taylor Wilson, Ricky Lehner, Andrew Kosic and Andrew Chetcuti won in a time of 1:32.34.
Mark Sarman was also a multiple winner for Tech on Saturday, as the junior put down a 57.46 in taking the 100 breast and won the 100 fly in 50.29. For the women, Jaclyn Rohal was the victor in both the 400 IM (4:34.08) and the 100 breast (1:07.54).
On the boards, Brad Homza won both the 1-meter (339.90) and the 3-meter (371.18) competition, while Hardy won on the 1-meter (309.98) and Shannon Lumbra took the 3-meter event (319.95).
Elisa Breaux, Maddie Paschal, Xanna Tracy and Katherine Kerman teamed for the victory in the 200 free relay (1:37.84) in the final event. The men's 200 free relay of Kosic, Robert Borowicz, Taylor Wilson and Salmon put down a winning time of 1:24.45.
The ACC Swimming & Diving Championship begins with the women's meet in Greensboro, N.C., Feb 19-22. The men's championship will be contested the following week in Greensboro.
