2018 American Short Course Championships Results
THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming had a total of four swimmers compete on day one of the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series meet in Atlanta on Thursday, as the four-day meet opened up with four events in the 100 LC meter fly, 200 LC meter breast, the 100 LC meter free and the 800 LC meter free.
Both the TYR Pro Swim Series meet and the 2018 American Short Course Championships will continue with day two of competition set for tomorrow with the preliminaries in the morning and the finals at night.
In the 200 LC meter breaststroke event, sophomore Kristen Hepler turned in a time of 2:37.70 in the preliminaries to place 15th overall and earn a spot in the finals. In the B finals heat, Hepler touched the wall in sixth with her time of 2:36.49, placing her 14th overall for the event.
Tech had a trio of freshmen compete in the 100 LC meter free prelims on Thursday morning, as Austin Daniel (52.43), Albert Zhi (52.51) and Jeffrey Murray (53.39) all took part in the sprint free event.
Daniel, Murray and Zhi are all scheduled to compete in the 50 LC meter free tomorrow, while fellow freshman Leon Warnakulasuriya will compete in the 200 LC meter back. Zhi and Murray will also compete in the 200 LC meter free on Friday.
Junior Rodrigo Correia is slated to compete in the 100 back tomorrow at the 2018 American Short Course Championships in Austin, Texas.
