Lumbra 23rd on 3m at NCAA Championship
The junior missed a qualifying spot by just nine points
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Georgia Tech junior diver Shannon Lumbra completed her first-ever appearance at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship with a 23rd-place finish on the 3m springboard this past weekend at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Lumbra, who earlier in the championship was 26th on the 1m, posted a preliminary-round score of 313.65, which was good for 23rd-place out of the 49 divers in the field. She missed a top-16 qualifying spot by just nine points.
Minnesota's Yu Zhou was crowned the NCAA's 3m champion, scoring 410.25 points in the final round to edge Miami's Pei Lin.
The NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championship begins Thursday in Iowa City, Iowa.
