THE FLATS – The White team, who held a 29 point lead heading into day two of competition, finished with nine more wins on Saturday to pull away from the Gold team for the 340.5-296.5 intrasquad meet win at the McAuley Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24.

A total of 15 intrasquad meet records fell over the two-day event.

“I was very happy to see the team race this weekend. I thought I saw some things that were great and some things that we need to work on. Two freshmen that stood out off the top of my head were Brennan Day and Kristen Hepler. Some of our returners, Moises Loschi, does a great job for us, Kaitlin Kitchens coming in, Iris Wang, Rodrigo Quadros Correia, and Ben Southern all did some good things,” stated Coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “We definitely have some work to do. It was a good starting point for us, I think we broke multiple intrasquad records. A good start up as we get into our first meet next Friday, but looking forward to going back to working hard and fixing some of the little things and focusing on how we can get better for the next weekend.”

The White team picked up two early wins in the 400 yard IM events with Kristen Hepler touching first on the women’s side with a time of 4:35.59 and Moises Loschi winning the men’s event with a time of 4:06.07.

Iris Wang registered a win in the women’s 200 yard free for the White team with her time of 1:51.59, while Chloe Miller (58.98) and Ben Southern (50.37) posted back-to-back victories in the 100 yard fly events to extend the White team’s lead.

Loschi earned a first-place finish in the men’s 200 yard breast event for the men’s team with a time of 2:01.04, while the White team picked up another sweep, this time in the 1000 yard free events with wins from Emily Ilgenfritz (10:33.27) and Edwin Zhao (9:44.57).

The White team capped off the meet victory with a first-place finish in the men’s 400 yard free relay, as Dan Cohen Solal, Noah Harasz, Stefan Kranenburg and Oskar Zimowski touched the wall in a time of 3:06.31.

The Gold team also recorded nine wins on Saturday, including tallying four straight victories midway through the day to try to cut into the White team’s lead.

The 200 yard medley relay unit of Maddie Paschal, Hepler, Laura Branton and Kaitlin Kitchens led the Gold team to a win with a time of 1:47.55 in the first event of the day, as they looked to get back into the meet early.

Hepler posted a win in the 400 yard IM event with her time of 4:35.59 and a first-place finish in the 200 yard breast with a time of 2:23.35, while Rodrigo Quadros Correia touched the wall first in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:40.18.

Following a White team win in the men’s 200 yard breast, the Gold team ran off four straight wins – Paschal in the women’s 100 yard back (57.55), Quadros Correia in the men’s 100 back (49.44), Kitchens in the women’s 50 yard free (23.70) and Aidan Pastel in the men’s 50 yard free (21.57).

The Gold team relay squad of Lila Best, Tamir Gonen Cohen, Alex Rieger and Kitchens also earned a win in the 400 yard free relay event with their time of 3:33.83.

The Jackets will open up the 2016-17 regular season slate on Friday, Sept. 30, versus Georgia Southern at 4 p.m. at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
