Following this week’s action, the men’s swimming championships is set for next week in Greensboro.

“We’ve been preparing for just about two weeks now and I feel we’re ready,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “The last time we swam competitively (versus Emory), I really liked the approach our women took. Now after tapering, we’ll have to see if that work pays off in the pool.”

The women, who have been dealing with some key injuries this season, are looking to build on last year’s eighth-place finish at the ACC Championship. They will look to seniors Kate Riley and Alexis Weber in the sprint events, while sophomore Catherine Richards is ranked among the league’s leading breaststrokers.

In diving, senior Brandon Makinson has missed much of the season with an injury but is expected to return this week. He got off to hot start, smashing the school record on the 3m board and currently leading the ACC in that event with his score of 422.55. Makinson has medaled in each of the last two ACC Championships, winning silver on the 1m last year and bronze on the 3m in 2011.

Makinson, who holds both the 1m and 3m school records, and fellow senior Chris Khosravi, who holds the school record on the platform, will be competing in their final ACC events.

For the women, freshman Shannon Lumbra has enjoyed a solid debut season and is among the ACC leaders on both springboard events.

A live video stream of event finals will be available from the ACC Digital Network on theACC.com Thursday through Saturday from 7 p.m. until the finish, with Leah Secondo handling play-by-play and Frank Comfort adding analysis.

There is no charge for admission to the 2013 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships. Doors will open at 10 a.m. for the prelims and at 6 p.m. for the finals. Parking is available for $5 on Wednesday and $8 the remaining three days, with a weekly parking pass sold on Wednesday and Thursday for $15.
