Men's 4x200m Free Relay Results
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After taking a day-off from competition on Friday, Georgia Tech freshman Caio Pumputis competed in both the men’s 200 meter breaststroke and the 4x200 meter free relay events on Saturday at the 6th FINA World Junior Championships held in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In the 200 breast, Pumputis touched the wall fourth in his heat and 13th overall in the preliminaries with his time of 2:15.44. His time was just 2.10 seconds out of eighth-place, the final qualifying spot for the finals in the night session.
As the final leg of the Brazil 4x200 meter free relay team, Pumputis closed out the race to give team Brazil an eighth-place finish and a time of 7:25.79 in the prelims to qualify for the finals.
In the finals, Pumputis and Brazil touched the wall in eighth-place overall with a time of 7:34.79.
The São Paulo, Brazil native finished 18th overall in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.64) on Wednesday and fifth in the 200 medley (2:00.97) on Thursday.
Pumputis is slated to compete in the 400 IM on Sunday, Aug. 27, and as part of the 400 medley relay team on Monday, Aug. 28.
