Tech Swimmer Andrew Chetcuti Headed To FINA World Championships

THE FLATS - Georgia Tech sophomore swimmer Andrew Chetcuti, who this past summer swam in the Olympics, will once again represent his home country of Malta on the national stage at the 11th FINA World Swimming Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
The FINA World Championships runs Dec. 12-16 and is a short course meet, being held at the Sinan Erdem Arena in Turkey's largest city.
Chetcuti is scheduled to swim the 50m free on Dec. 13, the 100m free on Dec. 15 and the 200m free on Dec. 12.
This past summer in London, Chetcuti posted a time of 51.67 in the quarterfinals of the 100m free, which placed him 39th overall in the field of 56 swimmers. He was third in his heat, but did not advance to the semifinals.
The Tech sophomore holds Malta's national records in both the 50m and 100m free.
