· It remained that way until Virginia scratched for a run in the fifth, but the Jackets tacked on four runs of insurance in the sixth and answered three runs by Virginia in the seventh with two more in the home half to cap the scoring.
· Tech starter Cole Pitts allowed six hits and one run in four innings, and Matthew Gorst got the Jackets out of further trouble in the fifth and tossed four innings of relief to earn his third win (3-2).
· Peurifoy added an RBI single in the sixth and Daniel Spingola had RBI singles in both the sixth and seventh innings.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
· Tech turned two double plays and catcher Arden Pabst cut down both of UVa's stolen base attempts. Pabst has thrown out 17 potential base-stealers this season.

QUOTEABLE:
"The first inning was key for us. We had a tough day yesterday so to get five right there in the first inning off a really good pitcher definitely set the tone for the whole day. Pitts certainly gave us everything he had and he pitched out of trouble. I thought Arden was huge tonight throwing out guys on the bases and offensively, we got contributions up and down the order."
