Georgia Tech and NC State are meeting for the first-time since 2016. In fact, it is the first-time that the Yellow Jackets have played at Doak Field at Dail Park since 2014. The lone man on the roster that was on the team that season is redshirt senior Ben Schniederjans.

The weekend series features the top two teams in the ACC offensive wise. Overall, the Wolfpack are first in the ACC in hitting (.326), runs (170), hits (237), home runs (38) and RBIs (157), while the Jackets are second in the league in hitting (.317), hits (235), and home runs (30), and fourth in RBIs (134).

Friday’s doubleheader is the third twin tilt for the Jackets already this season. Tech is 2-2 over the four games in the two doubleheaders, sweeping Dartmouth 12-9 and 11-5 on Feb. 24 and falling in back-to-back games to Clemson 7-3 and 13-2 on March 10.

The Yellow Jackets have dropped four-straight games road games entering play at NC State this weekend. After posting two-straight road wins at Georgia Southern (Feb. 20) and Georgia State (Mar. 7), the Jackets dropped three-straight at Clemson (Mar. 9-10) and then their fourth in a row at Auburn (Mar. 13).

In Tech’s last contest versus Mercer on Wednesday night, the Yellow Jackets’ bullpen held the Bears hitless over the last five innings of the game. During that span, the Jacket arms walked three, but struck out seven Mercer batters.

When leading after the first six innings of play, the Yellow Jackets are 11-0 this season. Tech is also 12-0 this year when leading after the seventh and eighth innings. On the flip side, the Jackets are just 1-9 when trailing or tied after six complete and are 0-9 when trailing after seven innings.

Georgia Tech’s offense is averaging a shade under seven runs per game at 6.95 per contest this season. The Jackets are 8-4 on the season when scoring seven runs or more in the game.

Georgia Tech is 8-1 this season when holding its foes to five runs or less in a game. The lone loss was a 3-2 defeat at No. 6 Clemson on Friday, March 9. However, the Jackets are just 4-8 this season when giving up six runs or more in a game.

The nine Tech hitters in the lineup have been in a different order each game, as Coach Hall has penciled in 21 different batting orders this season on his lineup card over the Yellow Jackets’ 21 games.

Tech has had 11 different players hit at least one home run in a game for them this season in Joey Bart (8), Kyle McCann (6), Tristin English (4), Chase Murray (2), Kel Johnson (2), Michael Guldberg (2), Carter Hall (2), Baron Radcliff (1), Austin Wilhite (1), Luke Waddell (1) and Oscar Serratos (1).
