>> For the first time as ACC foes, Georgia Tech and No. 7 Louisville meet this weekend at Jim Patterson Stadium. The entire series airs live on ESPN3 and WREK 91.1 FM Atlanta. Live audio can also be accessed at RamblinWreck.com and via WREK on the TuneIn app.
>> The Yellow Jackets are facing the Cardinals for the first time since a 2008 meeting in the NCAA Athens Regional -- an 8-5 Tech victory. Louisville won the previous two meetings -- 3-2 in a neutral site game at the Louisiana Superdome in 1992 and 11-5 at Louisville in 1990.
>> Tech leads the ACC in fielding (.978, 15th in NCAA), is third in average (.296), fourth in slugging (.442), fourth in scoring (168), second in doubles (58, 2nd in NCAA), fourth in home runs (19) and fourth in double plays (20). The Jackets led the NCAA with 77 double plays last season. Since 2012, Tech has fielded .974 as a team and recorded the NCAA's third-most double plays (213). Tech set the school record for fielding each of the last two years (.973 in 2013 and .974 in 2014).
>> Tech is outscoring opponents 45-12 over the final two innings plus extras. The Jackets have three walk-off wins -- including last Saturday's 6-5 victory over North Carolina -- and have won four times when trailing in the eighth inning (4-6) and three times when trailing in the ninth (3-5). Ten of Tech's 17 wins this year are come-from-behind victories.
>> Sophomore RHP Zac Ryan is the only pitcher in the nation with five wins and two or more saves. He is already 5-0 with four saves and a 2.10 ERA. Of his team-best 13 appearances, 10 have been scoreless, including eight of the last 10. He is tied for the ACC lead in wins (tied for second nationally), while his four saves are fourth in the conference.
>> Senior Daniel Spingola brings a 12-game hitting streak into the series, which is a career high. He's hitting .340 over the streak (17-for-50) with three doubles, a home run, six RBI and nine runs. Spingola has reached safely in 15 straight games, while Connor Justus has reached safely in 10 straight games. Justus went 4-for-8 in the UNC series and also drew three walks. Justus is 16 for his last 49 (.327) at the plate with three doubles, eight RBI, seven walks and a .410 OBP.
>> Sunday's starter, RHP Brandon Gold, brings the ACC's seventh-best ERA into the series of 1.83. He is 3-0 with 32 strikeouts against seven walks in 34.1 innings. His first three career starts resulted in 23-consecutive scoreless innings before that was snapped versus UNC. He took a no-hitter into the seventh vs. Indiana State on March 1 -- his first career start.
>> Junior Matt Gonzalez has at least one hit in 11 of his last 12 games, including multi-hit efforts in each of the last three games. Gonzalez is hitting .400 over that 12-game stretch (18-for-45) with six doubles, two home runs and 10 RBI. He's raised his average nearly 100 points to .287 over the last two weeks of the season.
>> Tech will be without Kel Johnson for the Louisville series. The rookie, who was hitting .379 with seven home runs and 25 RBI, suffered a sprained ankle in the series final versus UNC and will be sidelined while he rehabs.
