May 10, 2017

THE FLATS -- Matt Wieters made his first return back to Baltimore, Charlie Blackmon continues to swing a hot bat, Derek Dietrich breaks back into the Miami Marlins starting lineup, Blake Wood continues to impress out of the bullpen for the Cincinnati Reds and left-handed pitcher Jed Bradley retires in this week's Nissan #ProJackets Baseball Report.

In his first trip back to Baltimore this season, Wieters received not one but two standing ovaitions from the Orioles' faithful. The former Baltimore catcher went on to go 2-for-4 with an RBI double in his first game against his old team on May 8.

Blackmon continues to swing a hot bat over the first two weeks of play in the month of May, as the outfielder is hitting .326 (14-for-43) over his last 10 games. Blackmon posted back-to-back three hit games in the final two games of the three-game series with Arizona on May 6-7, going 6-for-9 with a home run, a triple, a double, two RBIs and three runs scored.

Getting back into the startking lineup this week versus the New York Mets on May 7 and the St. Louis Cardinals on May 8-9, Dietrich went 5-for-10 (.500) with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Thus far in the month of May, he is hitting .278 with an on-base percentage of .409.

Wood pitched 2.2 scoreless innings over the last week, appearing against San Francisco on May 5 and the New York Yankees on May 8 for the Cincinnati Reds.

Bradley, who was pitching for the Orioles' Double A affiliate in the Bowie Baysox, retired on May 4. (Click Here). The southpaw made his Major League debut last season, tossing seven innings for the Braves in September.
