Three G's Named to ABCA All-Region Team

All three players were selected during last week’s 2016 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.
Gorst, a 12th-round draft pick by the Boston Red Sox, was one of the nation’s best closers in 2016. He posted a 2-1 record with 12 saves and a school-record 0.55 ERA in a career-high 28 relief appearances. He was named second-team All-ACC as a relief pitcher and his 12 saves are tied for the second-most in school history.
A first-team All-ACC selection, Gonzalez led the Yellow Jackets with a .378 average with 93 hits, 11 home runs and 54 RBI as a senior. He finished his four-year career as one of only three players in school history to amass 300 hits and he is tied for the school record with 21 career sacrifice flies. He was drafted in the sixth round by the Atlanta Braves.
Gold started 16 games on the mound as Tech’s ace, posting a team-best 9-3 record with a 2.48 ERA and 81 strikeouts in 105.1 innings. A second-team All-ACC starting pitcher, he was drafted in the 12th round by the Colorado Rockies.
Georgia Tech went 38-25 in 2016 and advanced to the championship game of the 2016 NCAA Gainesville Regional. It was the Yellow Jackets’ 20th Regional appearance under head coach Danny Hall and the 31st in school history.
