GEORGIA TECH HEAD COACH Brian Gregory

Opening Statement
“I thought Wake Forest played very well today, very physical. They did a good job on the offensive glass. When they shoot the ball the way they did today they are a very difficult team to guard. It compliments Thomas inside extremely well. They’ve played well the last 10 days. Not that they hadn’t had bright spots early but you can see with Thomas inside, and the focus he is going to have in this league, if the other guys can make shots and move the ball well as they did, and get extra possessions like they did today, they are a very good team.”

On play in the paint…
“I think we have to get the ball inside a little more especially when our big men are scoring. We have to keep working to get the ball in there but we also need those guys with their size and strength to combine for more than six defensive rebounds. Where I thought they were pretty good in one aspect of the game, the challenge for them is that they aren’t one aspect of the game guys anymore. They have to be dependable in a lot of areas. We didn’t get the total game from them.”

On being outrebounded…
“This is the first time all season we have been outrebounded. They went after us. That’s not who we are, that’s not what we do and it wasn’t a good showing today. Our rebounding and overall defense keep us in games and neither one was up to the level it needed to be. Give Wake Forest credit for that.”

WAKE FOREST HEAD COACH DANNY MANNING

Opening Statement
“This afternoon was a very hard fought game. Georgia Tech came in and played a really good game. They are a very physical team. All year long they have been out-rebounding their opponents so we really had a challenge on the glass tonight. Brian’s team plays very tough and physical and tonight was no exception. I thought Mitch was really good, he knocked down some shots early and spaced the floor for us. We got in to the second half and the ball started moving. Devin and Codi did a good job of finding shooters. Cornelius knocked down a couple shots, Darius knocked down some and Mitch hit another one. I thought it was a good team effort. We battled through some adversity late and continued to grind and find a way.”

On team’s toughness in final minutes…
“I hope we are getting tougher. That is something that all coaches would like to happen throughout the course of the year. I think we are moving in the right direction but we have to continue to work and continue to play together as a team.”

On game plan for Georgia Tech’s forwards…
“We wanted to give them a different look at the end of the game. Early we didn’t want to double the posts because they have some great three-point shooters. We didn’t want them to get open looks. At the end we doubled the ball, we had high hands and we took away some of their aggressiveness on the post and we didn’t give up any uncontested shots.”

On winning the battle of the boards…
“We competed. That’s what rebounding comes down to, competing, boxing out and going after the basketball. The last game we played against Duke, Devin was the only one with an offensive rebound. Tonight we got 15 offensive rebounds which led to 19 second chance points. Winning that category every game is important to us.”
