TEAM NOTES

  • The 68 points for Georgia Tech was its lowest output of the season by one. The Yellow Jackets scored 69 to defeat Tennessee, 69-67, six days ago. The 22 field goals, 57 attempts and 40.7 percent success rate also were season lows. But the Jackets remain at 50 percent for the season.
  • Tech went 19-of-22 from the free throw line, season highs for free throws made and percentage (86.4).
  • Tech led at the half 32-27, the Yellow Jackets’ lowest-scoring first half this season. The Jackets led Tennessee 40-38 at the half on Nov. 16, and scored 29 points after intermission for their lowest-scoring half overall.
  • After holding ETSU to 27 in the first half, the Buccaneers scored 42 points and shot 57.7 percent, including 5-of-9 from three-point range, after intermission.
  • Tech out-rebounded ETSU, 35-28, the third time in four games and the 75th time in 128 games under Brian Gregory that the Jackets have out-rebounded their opponent. Tech is 46-39 in those games. The Jackets have a plus-11.2 rebounding advantage for the season.
  • Tech had 12 assists on 22 made field goals tonight and has 80 assists on 139 made field goals for the season, 57.6 percent of its field goals made. Tech has an average of 20.0 assists per game through four games.
  • Tech has averaged 73.3 offensive possessions in four games this season compared to 63.1 last season. Its team offensive efficiency rating is 122.7 compared to 97.2 last season.
  • Tech also has made major improvements in points off turnovers (14.0 compared to 13.0 last season), second-chance points (17.5 to 12.7), points in the paint (40.0 to 32.2) and fast break points (18.2 to 8.3).
  • Tech put four players in double-figure scoring after placing six against Green Bay and seven against Cornell. Tech never had as many as five players in double digits last season, and had four only six times.
  • Tech had just nine turnovers in the game, the second time this season they have stayed under 10. The Yellow Jackets have recorded more assists than turnovers in every game.

Mitchell is hitting 64.1 percent of his field goal tries through four games, and Jacobs has made 61 percent. White is 9-for-19, and Lammers is 10-for-13.
  • Tech used 10 players in the game, and eight of them scored.
  • Josh HeathTravis JorgensonAdam Smith and Marcus Georges-Hunt combined for 10 assists and just three turnovers in the game. They have 56 assists against 14 turnovers combined for the season.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

  • Marcus Georges-Hunt scored 20 points and reached double figures for the 67th time in 98 career games at Georgia Tech.
  • Georges-Hunt passed Sammy Drummer, Phil Wagner and Terry Randall to reach 28th place on Tech’s all-time scoring list, and now has 1,194 career points. He needs 62 to reach Drew Barry, who has 27th place with 1,253.
  • Nick Jacobs had 11 points by halftime and finished the game with 13, his fourth-straight double-digit game this season.
  • Charles Mitchell scored 10 points and reached in double digits for the sixth straight game dating back to last season. It was his 19th double-digit game in a Tech uniform, and the 35th of his career. He has made 25 of 39 shots from the floor (64.1 pct.) this season.
  • Mitchell also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds and posted his 11th double-double in a Tech uniform. It was his 23rd career double-figure rebound game.
  • Adam Smith notched his third double-digit scoring game in three this season. It was the 56th of his career. He made a pair of threes (10 of 27 for the season) and dished two assists with no turnovers in 29 minutes.
