Nissan #ProJackets Basketball Report

March 17, 2016

THE FLATS –

After a frustrating month for Miami forward Chris Bosh, the big man welcomed twin boys into the world this past Tuesday. For Bosh it was a much needed boost after a recent blood clot scare…  Derrick Favors has led the Utah Jazz to a three-game winning streak scoring over 20 points per game… Iman Shumpert added a season-high five assists in his second start of the year for Cleveland… All of that and more can be found in this week’s basketball edition of the Nissan #ProJackets Report.

Chris BoshChris Bosh returned to the Miami Heat’s bench wearing street clothes this past week. The forward has said publicly that he does not have deep vein thrombosis and plans to return this season. The veteran escaped his frustrations on the hardwood by welcoming his newborn twin boys on Tuesday, Phoenix Avery and Lennox Noel. In fact, Bosh is now the second #ProJacket to have twins this season after Derrick Favors’ twin daughters were born in late August. Bosh’s wife Adrienne spoke with People magazine earlier this week.

Derrick Favors – Since losing nine of their last 12, the Utah Jazz have righted the ship winning three in a row. Favors has led the charge, averaging over 20 points per game on 52.5 percent shooting during the win streak. The forward added his 18th double-double of the season in a 28-point, 14-rebound effort in Utah’s 108-99 win over Sacramento. The Atlanta-native is averaging a career-best 17.0 points per game despite missing 16 games due to back spasms. The Jazz sit just 1.5 games out a playoff spot in the Western Conference and face the Phoenix Suns tonight at 9 p.m. ET.

Jarrett JackJarrett Jack underwent season-ending knee surgery in Manhattan in January. Officially diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, the point guard anticipates a full recovery and plans to return for the 2016-17 season. Jack’s season averages in 32 games as the Brooklyn Nets starting point guard were 12.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg and a team-high 7.4 apg.

Anthony Morrow Anthony Morrow delivered one of his top performances of the season in Oklahoma City’s blowout victory over Portland on Tuesday night. The wingman drained 3-of-4 treys and swiped a season-high two steals in 16 minutes of action. Morrow’s playing time still suffers from a deep Thunder bench that includes Dion Waiters and Kyle Singler. The Charlotte, N.C. product has played over 18 minutes just twice since early January. The Thunder travel to Philadelphia and battle the 76ers Friday night at 7 p.m. ET.

Iman ShumpertIman Shumpert may have taken just two shots in only his second start of the season, but the guard was instrumental in Cleveland’s 99-98 win over Dallas. The defense-first wing stepped in for LeBron James last night and contributed a season-high five assists and team-high three steals. Cleveland still leads Toronto by 2.5 games in the race for the East’s top seed. Cleveland visits Orlando Friday night at 7 p.m. ET.

Thaddeus Young Thaddeus Young feasted on the glass in Tuesday’s win over Philadelphia adding a season-high 16 boards and 14 points. The nine-year veteran has turned in another blue-collar season in the front court averaging 15.1 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game including 27 double-doubles in 66 games. The Nets battle the Bulls in Chicago tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
