Men’s basketball season ticket information
GREENSBORO, N.C. – NCAA Tournament teams Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech are part of Georgia Tech’s nine-game Atlantic Coast Conference home schedule in 2018-19, part of the conference slate of matchups announced Monday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The matchups released Tuesday designate the 18-game home and away opponents for the upcoming season. Specific dates and times for each game will be announced later this summer after the conference’s league schedule matrix is finalized. Season tickets for the 2018-19 season for Georgia Tech will go on sale in May.
The 2019 New York Life ACC Tournament is scheduled for March 12-16 at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, N.C.
In addition to Tech’s permanent home-and-away opponents Clemson and Notre Dame, the Yellow Jackets will face Florida State and Virginia Tech both at home and on the road next season, The Seminoles reached the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament last season, falling to Michigan in the West Regional final in Los Angeles. The Tigers lost a close game to Kansas in the round of 16 in the Midwest Region, while the Hokies fell to Alabama in the opening round of the East Region.
Tech’s home slate at McCamish Pavilion in 2018-19 also includes Boston College, Louisville, North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Wake Forest. The Tar Heels advanced to the round of 32 at the NCAA Tournament before losing to Texas A&M in the West Region.
The Yellow Jackets face a more difficult road away from home, facing eight NCAA Tournament teams in nine games, most of any ACC team. Aside from Clemson, FSU and Virginia Tech, Tech will travel to Duke, Miami, NC State, Syracuse and Virginia. Duke reached the final of the Midwest Region before falling to Kansas, while Syracuse advanced to the round of 16 where they lost to the Blue Devils. The Hurricanes, Wolfpack and Cavaliers all lost in the opening round.
The ACC posted a 12-9 record in this year’s NCAA Tournament and led all conferences with a league-record-tying nine teams earning bids. With its 12-9 mark, the ACC has finished .500-or-better in each of the last 31 NCAA tournaments. The Big Ten has the next longest active streak at 12.
Over the past four seasons, the ACC is 59-29 (.670) in NCAA Tournament play, and its 59 wins are 22 more than any other conference. The ACC has had multiple Sweet 16 teams in 34 of the last 39 NCAA Tournaments, including 16 years with three-or-more teams and 11 years with four-or-more.
Overall, 12 league teams took part in postseason play in 2018. Clemson, Duke, Florida State and Syracuse all earned Sweet 16 berths, marking the third time in the last four years that the ACC has placed at least four teams in the regional semifinals.
