Reed to Graduate This Summer, Transfer to Another School

May 10, 2013

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech junior Brandon Reed will complete his degree requirements at the end of the summer term and transfer to another school for his final year of basketball eligibility, head coach Brian Gregory announced Friday.

The 6-3 guard from Powder Springs, Ga., started Tech’s first 15 games in 2012-13 and averaged 5.2 points per game for the season. He shot a career-best 38.4 percent from three-point range. He has two courses to complete during the summer term to earn his bachelor’s degree in Sociology.

“We appreciate everything Brandon has done for our program,” said head coach Brian Gregory. “He has been an integral part of this team over the last two years. We’re excited that he will be earning a Georgia Tech degree and wish him success in his final year of eligibility.”

In two seasons at Tech after transferring from Arkansas State, Reed started 43 games and averaged 6.4 points and shot 31.8 percent from three-point range. Reed attended Whitefield Academy in Atlanta before enrolling at Arkansas State, where he was the Sun Belt Conference freshman of the year in 2009-10. He sat out the 2010-11 season at Tech.
