Home Game With Georgia Tips Off Non-Conference Hoops Slate

July 17, 2014

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech will meet Georgia on the earliest date in the series’ history, and December home games with Vanderbilt and Charlotte highlight the Yellow Jackets non-conference schedule for the 2014-15 season.

Season tickets can be renewed online, and new season tickets can be purchased at TogetherWeSwarm.com beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. Tech basketball fans, for the first time, are being offered a two-year season ticket plan that rewards them with price discounts off single-year pricing in both 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Tech’s 16-game home schedule also includes historic first-ever visits to the Tech campus for Louisville and Syracuse on the Atlantic Coast Conference slate, as well as Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Wake Forest. Tech’s complete 2014-15 schedule with dates and times for all games will be announced in August.

The Yellow Jackets will be looking to extend their winning streak against the Bulldogs to four when the teams open the season on Friday, Nov. 14 at McCamish Pavilion, the earliest date the teams have ever faced each other. It’ll be a big weekend on The Flats as Tech’s football team also will host Clemson in football the next day.

Tech leads the all-time series with Georgia, 104-86, and has won three straight against the Bulldogs for the first time since All-American Roger Kaiser played for the Yellow Jackets.

Head coach Brian Gregory’s fourth Tech team continues with home games against Alabama A&M (Nov. 18) and IPFW (Nov. 21) before traveling to Orlando for the Orlando Classic during Thanksgiving week. The Yellow Jackets will play three games there against a field that includes Kansas, Marquette, Michigan State, Rhode Island, Rider, Santa Clara and Tennessee.

The Jackets then head to Northwestern for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Dec. 3, the teams’ third meeting in the annual cross-over series, before returning home to face USC Upstate (Dec. 6) and Appalachian State (Dec. 15). Tech has never faced USC Upstate in basketball, and will meet the Mountaineers for the first time since 1998.

Tech closes the non-conference slate with a rugged stretch against Vanderbilt (Dec. 20) and Charlotte (Dec. 30) at McCamish Pavilion, sandwiched around a road game at Dayton (Dec. 23). The Jackets will look to avenge a loss to the Commodores last year in Nashville in the continuation of a series that dates back to 1914.

Season ticket holders for 2014-15 will receive several benefits, including discounts on single-game tickets, exclusive post-season ticket access, an interest-free payment plan, the ability to transfer tickers online, a new mobile ticketing option and more. Details on seating and payment options are available at TogetherWeSwarm.com.
