Purchase season tickets to Tech basketball

Georgia Tech’s 70th meeting in basketball with Tennessee will get a national audience as part of ESPN’s Tip-Off Marathon of basketball. The Nov. 16 meeting at McCamish Pavilion will be televised on ESPNU at 7 p.m.

The teams are meeting for the first time since Tech’s Final Four season of 2003-04, kicking off a four-game series.

Tennessee holds a 42-27 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to 1921. The bulk of those meetings took place while the Yellow Jackets were members of the Southeastern Conference from 1932-64. Since Tech’s exit from the SEC, the teams have met nine times, most recently on Dec. 15, 2002, when the Volunteers won 70-69 on a half-court heave at Philips Arena, and Feb. 7, 2004, when the Yellow Jackets won 77-62 at Thompson-Boling Arena during its most recent Final Four season.

Head coach Brian Gregory’s fifth Tech team returns three starters, including senior forward Marcus Georges-Hunt, the sixth-leading returning scorer in the Atlantic Coast Conference and promising sophomore scoring guard Tadric Jackson, as well as one of the top double-double practitioners in the ACC in senior forward Charles Mitchell. All told, 10 letterwinners are back, including six of the team’s top nine scorers. The Jackets also welcome to their ranks the ACC’s top three-point shooter from last season, Adam Smith, who is transferring from Virginia Tech, and high-scoring forward Nick Jacobs, a transfer from Alabama who sat out the 2014-15 season.

Tennessee is entering its first season under Rick Barnes, who became the Volunteers’ head coach after 17 seasons at Texas, where he guided the Longhorns to 16 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Season ticket packages for Tech basketball start as low as $360, or only $20 per game. Tickets can be purchased at TogetherWeSwarm.com, the official site for renewing or purchasing Georgia Tech basketball tickets. Fans can also purchase tickets by calling 1-888-TECH -TIX. The remaining non-conference games and the ACC schedule will be announced later this summer.

Tech’s home ACC schedule for 2015-16 will feature visits from defending NCAA champion Duke, NCAA Elite Eight teams Louisville and Notre Dame, and ACC regular-season champion Virginia among the Yellow Jackets’ nine home Atlantic Coast Conference games, as well as the Volunteers and VCU, an NCAA Tournament team the last five years.

The Yellow Jackets’ complete 2015-16 schedule with tip times and television is scheduled to be announced Wednesday, Sept. 2.
