Georgia Tech Men's Basketball Promotional Schedule Announced
Salute to Service, Michael Isenhour Toy Drive highlight early-season events
THE FLATS - A Salute to Service celebration on opening night (Nov. 11) and the annual Michael Isenhour Toy Drive on Nov. 18 highlight an extensive list of promotional activities planned for Georgia Tech's early season games in men's basketball at McCamish Pavilion.
The opening night for Tech under head coach Josh Pastner, which is Veterans Day, will feature a double-header in which Pastner's first Yellow Jacket team takes on Tennessee Tech at 8 p.m., preceded by Tech's women hosting Samford at 5:30 p.m. Tech will honor members of the United States military, including Yellow Jacket basketball letterwinners who have served. Free meals will be offered to veterans with a valid military ID, and for each ticket purchased to the game, a Tech will donate a ticket to a veteran, active military member of their families.
As Thanksgiving approaches, Tech will hold a canned good drive, presented by Georgia United Credit Union, when the Yellow Jackets host Southern University on Nov. 14 (7:30 p.m.). Fans can purchase a ticket to the game for $5 if they donate five cans.
The 16th annual Michael Isenhour Toy Drive will take place on Friday, Nov. 18, when the Yellow Jackets take on Ohio University at 8 p.m. Fans are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a monetary gift to the game. Student-athletes representing Georgia Tech's athletic teams will be stationed at every gate entrance to collect toys for charitable donation. The Toy Drive is named in honor of former Georgia Tech basketball letterman and Student-Athlete Advisory Board member Michael Isenhour, who died in 2002 following a battle with leukemia. Isenhour spearheaded the first Toy Drive in 2001 to help families affected by 9/11, and since then, SAAB has continued the annual project in his memory.
On Dec. 18, when Tech hosts Alcorn State for a 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon game, the Yellow Jackets will hold a coat drive. Every Tech fan who donates a winter coat will get their photo taken with Buzz on the court after the game, and the first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a free Georgia Tech cookie cutter.
Tech's three home games during the holiday break -- Alcorn State (Dec. 18, 2 p.m.), Wofford (Dec. 22, 7:30 p.m.) and North Carolina A&T (Dec. 28, 7:30 p.m.) will feature Holiday Fan Zones, with adult tickets available for $15, and youth tickets available for $8.
Season ticket packages remain available for the Yellow Jackets' fifth season in McCamish Pavilion, starting as low as $360, or $20 per game. Purchasing season tickets guarantee patrons the lowest price per game for all 18 home games. A complete list of season-ticket holder benefits is available at TogetherWeSwarm.com, the official site for renewing or purchasing Georgia Tech basketball tickets.
