THE FLATS – Georgia Tech continues its 100th season of basketball and its season-opening three-game homestand Tuesday night by hosting Alabama A&M at 7 p.m. at McCamish Pavilion.

Tech (1-0) opened its fourth season under head coach Brian Gregory Friday night by defeating state-rival Georgia, 80-73, for its fourth straight win in the series. Alabama A&M (0-1) opened its fifth season under head coach Willie Hayes with a 76-52 loss at Dayton Friday night.Tuesday’s game will not be televised, but the game can be viewed online on ESPN3 with Richard Musterer and former Tech starr Jon Babul calling the action. The Georgia Tech IMG Radio Network, with flagship station WCNN (680 AM/93.7 FM) will also carry the game with Brandon Gaudin and Randy Waters describing the action.Tech finishes its homestand Friday vs. IPFW at McCamish Pavilion, before traveling to Orlando next week for the Orlando Classic over Thanksgiving weekend.FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT TUESDAY’S GAME• Tech has never lost to Alabama A&M, owning a 4-0 record against the Bulldogs, and is 1-0 against AAMU under Brian Gregory. The teams last met in December of 2011, a 65-54 Tech win at the Arena at Gwinnett in Duluth.• Tech is 14-1 all-time against members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The lone loss came against Southern University in the first round of the 1993 NCAA Tournament.• Tech is 6-0 against teams nicknamed the Bulldogs under Brian Gregory.• Tech is going for a 2-0 start for the fourth straight season.• Tech is 22-13 in two-plus seasons in McCamish Pavilion.TECH OPENS WITH FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN OVER GEORGIAQuinton Stephens scored a career-high 22 points while making six 3-pointers, and Georgia Tech beat Georgia 80-73 on Friday night for its first four-game winning streak in the state rivalry in 51 years.Charles Mitchell, a transfer from Maryland, had 20 points and a game-high nine rebounds in his debut for Georgia Tech (1-0).A 3-pointer by Kenny Gaines and layup by J.J. Frazier allowed Georgia to pull to within 74-71 with 34.1 seconds remaining. Georgia Tech made six of eight free throws in the final 26 seconds to ice the win.QUICK NOTES FROM THE GEORGIA GAME• Georgia Tech led 42-32 at the half. The Jackets are 34-16 with a halftime lead under Brian Gregory.• Georgia Tech outrebounded Georgia 41-36. The Jackets are 37-25 under Gregory when outrebounding their opponent. Charles Mitchell had a game-high nine rebounds, while Demarco Cox and Robert Sampson each had eight.• Four players scored in doubles figures for the 27th time under Brian Gregory. Tech is 20-7 when that happens.• Tech is 25-9 when scoring 70 or more points under Brian Gregory.• Tech is 37-5 when leading at the 5-minute mark of the second half under Brian Gregory.• Quinton Stephens drained six 3s in the game, a career-high (previous was 2 twice last year). He notched the fifth double-figure game of his career and scored a career-high 22 points. His previous best was 13 at NC State last 1/26/14.• The last time a Georgia Tech player made six 3s in one game, happened three times in the 2010-11 season – Iman Shumpert vs. Virginia Tech (2/13/11) and Charlotte (1/2/11), and Brian Oliver vs. Syracuse (11/27/10).• Marcus Georges-Hunt reached double figures for the third time in three career games vs. Georgia (18 as freshman, 11 as sophomore, 11 tonight). It marked his 41st double-digit game.• Charles Mitchell scored 20 points in his Georgia Tech debut, surpassing his career high at Maryland – 19 vs. Delaware State on 12/29/12. He has 16 double figure games in his career.• Demarco Cox’s 10 points tonight marked just the fifth double-figure game of his career.• Tech used 10 players against the Bulldogs, and only one played 30 minutes.
