Tech Takes 4-Game Win Streak into Fordham Contest

THE FLATS - Riding its longest winning streak since the 2009-10 season, Georgia Tech resumes its seven-game homestand by hosting Fordham at 7 p.m. Saturday evening at McCamish Pavilion.
Tech (8-2) has won its last four games, including wins by more than 30 points in its last two games, and looks to continue its best start in three years with a win over the Rams. The Yellow Jackets' two losses have come to California, which was undefeated at the time and went on to win the DirecTV Classic, and undefeated and 12th-ranked Illinois on the road.
Saturday's game can be heard over the Georgia Tech IMG Sports Network (790 AM, 106.7 FM in Atlanta), as well as satellite radio on Sirius Ch. 117 and XM Ch. 195. It is also available online at ESPN3.
Tech, in its second season under head coach Brian Gregory, has won four straight games for the first time since early in the 2009-10 season and also has its best 10-game record since that season.
Fordham (3-9), which defeated Tech one year ago to the day in the Bronx, has won two of its last three games, including an 81-75 decision over Siena last time out on Dec. 23. The Rams had a rough start, dropping seven of their first eight games.
Tech returns to action Jan. 2 when it hosts Chattanooga in its final non-conference game of the season.
Tech has won four straight games and is off to its best start for the first time since the 2009-10 season, which won seven in a row on the way to an 11-2 start.
Tech has won its last two games by more than 30 points, the first time that has happened since the 2006-0u season (Elon, Jackson State).
Tech has held its last two opponents to 41 points each and a collective 25.2 percent field goal percentage. The Jackets have held four opponents under 50 points this year and three under 30 percent field goal percentage.
Tech ranks among the nation's top 10 in scoring yield (6th) and field goal percentage defense (7th).
Tech has held its opponents to 53.6 points per game, second-best in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets have held two opponents under 40 points.
Tech's opponents have shot 35.2 percent from the floor collectively, third-best figure in the ACC. California had the best success rate at 44.2 percent.
Tech has limited its last four foes to 50.5 points per game and 30.2-percent shooting from the floor, including 23.1 percent on threes.
Tech has assisted on 63 of 103 field goals during this stretch (61.1 pct.). Tech has averaged 70.8 points per game, shot 45 percent from the floor and 39.1 percent from three-point range.
Series Notes vs. Fordham
Georgia Tech and Fordham are playing for the fourth time, and for the second straight season.
Tech has a 2-1 lead in the series, with the loss coming by a 72-66 score exactly one year ago tonight at Rose Hill Gym on the Fordham campus.
Fordham's last and only visit to Tech occurred Dec. 8, 1990, and results in a 92-72 Tech victory. The Rams were scheduled to plays the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta in last December of 2010, but a severe winter storm prevented them from traveling.
Tech defeated Fordham, 83-78, at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 15, 1990, the first meeting between the two schools.
Tech head coach Brian Gregory is 7-2 against Fordham, including a 7-1 mark against the Atlantic-10 foe while head coach at Dayton.
