Paul Johnson talks rush, attitude, focus in the workplace in Tuesday press conference
A potential standout at wide receiver... showed flashes of brilliance in 2012 as a true freshman... missed the last half of his rookie season with a knee injury... will miss spring practice to continue recovering from the injury but should be ready when fall camp opens... has above average speed and good hands.
2012 (true freshman): Played in eight games and started three times before suffering a knee injury in late October that kept him sidelined in November and December... his first career action came on national television in the season opener at Virginia Tech (Sept. 3)... made first career reception, for 19 yards, vs. Middle Tennessee State (Sept. 29)... made his first career start at Clemson (Oct. 6) and hauled in a 53-yard reception... his final catch of the season was a 45-yard TD reception against Boston College (Oct. 20).
High School: Norcross HS... played for head coach Keith Maloof ... talented on both sides of the ball... named the defensive back of the year by the Touchdown Club of Gwinnett... First Team All-State selection in 2011 by both the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the Gwinnett Writers Association... as a senior, recorded 53 tackles and five interceptions, including two INT returns for touchdowns... offensively, caught 20 passes for 515 yards and scored seven TDs... rated with three stars by Rivals... played in the Georgia North-South All-Star game... also played basketball and ran track at Norcross.
Personal: Full name is Anthony Tyrone Autry... son of Anthony and Thalia Autry... born Nov. 21, 1993 in Buffalo, N.Y... has four siblings - Charles, Ann, Matthew and Myles... is related to Thelonious Monk, a famous jazz pianist... was introduced to football at age eight by his uncle... plans to major in mechanical engineering.
