A non-scholarship linebacker who joined the program in August, 2009... an outstanding student... made the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2009-10.... made the Dean's list... a hard worker who spent five years in the program.

2013 (senior): Played in all 13 games, primarily on special teams... had a half-tackle for loss in the Alabama A&M game.

2012 (junior): Saw action in five games, mostly on special teams... played in each of the last four games of the season, including the ACC Championship game and the Hyundai Sun Bowl.

2011 (sophomore): Did not see game action... was a key performer on the scout team.

2010 (redshirt freshman): Did not see game action.

2009 (true freshman): Redshirted.

High School: Heritage HS... played four years under coaches Chad Frazier and Al Peligrino... two-year team captain for the Patriots... made 133 tackles, including 22 in one game, as a senior... won the US Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award in 2009... all-area in 2008... also earned a letter in baseball and track.

Personal: Full name is Corey Dan Alford... parents are Dan and Teresa... born Dec. 29, 1990 in Atlanta... has two siblings -- Chase and Callie... Chase is a freshman walk-on in 2013... multiple relatives are Tech graduates including father, uncle and cousin... majoring in mechanical engineering.
