Fourteen Yellow Jackets got at least one carry Saturday night
An athletic player whose role has grown each of the last two seasons... one of several players competing for a starting job this fall... was one of the top back-ups in 2012... saw significant action in 2011 in the nickel package... considered an excellent pass rusher.
2012 (junior): Played in 13 games... recorded six tackles and a sack... also had one pass break-up... registered a pair of tackles and a quarterback hurry in the nationally-televised season opener at Virginia Tech (Sept. 3)... had a sack for a loss of seven yards and a pass break-up vs. Presbyterian (Sept. 8)... credited with a solo tackle vs. Middle Tennessee State (Sept. 29).
2011 (sophomore): Played in eight games and made two starts... started in wins over Maryland and Duke... produced 10 tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sacks... opened the season with two tackles and his first career sack vs. Western Carolina (Sept. 1)... had two tackles vs. Kansas (Sept. 17)... recorded three tackles in a key home win over Maryland (Oct. 8).
2010 (redshirt freshman): Did not see game action.
2009 (true freshman): Redshirted.
High School: Jefferson County HS... 2008 Georgia all-area first team, 3AA all-region, first team all-state GHSA and AJC in 2A... ranked #68 for his position by Scout and #115 by ESPN... in 2008, had 89 tackles (61 solo), 20 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 30 QB hurries... 2008 Augusta Chronicle Dream 16 Team... played in the Georgia North/South All Star Game... nominated for the U.S. Army All-American Game... set school records for sacks in a season (13.5) and career (28)... led team to a 3A regional title... played for coach J.B. Arnold, earning three varsity letters as a defensive end and linebacker... served one year as a team captain... a good student who made the honor roll.
