2008
A key performer on a number of special teams and a back-up at A-back... a nominee for the Rudy Award... was a part of the A-back rotation late in the season... had eight special teams tackles... forced a key fumble against Georgia (Nov. 29) on the kick coverage team... threw a key block on one of Jonathan Dwyer's long runs and had a solo tackle on special teams vs. No. 23 Miami (Nov. 20)... saw significant action at A-back with no stats vs. Florida State (Nov. 1) and Virginia (Oct. 25)... was outstanding on special teams in the win over Duke (Oct. 4) with four tackles, including three solo tackles... only one other player had more tackles against the Blue Devils... recorded one special teams tackle in the season opener vs. Jacksonville State (Aug. 28)... a former walk-on kicker who moved to defensive back in 2007... continued to work with the defensive backs until late August... impressed with Garside's work ethic, Paul Johnson moved Garside to A-back the last week of August drills... one of Tech's top special team performers in 2006 and 2007... began his career as a walk-on back-up kicker... asked to be moved to defensive back in 2007 in an effort to see more action... made one of the top special teams plays for the Yellow Jackets in 2006 when he blocked a punt at Virginia Tech... joined the program as a walk-on in 2004 and took a redshirt year... was awarded with a scholarship by head coach Paul Johnson prior to the start of his senior season.

Overcame nagging injuries to play in eight games, mostly on special teams... averaged more than one tackle per game... had 11 tackles on the year including seven solos... made two tackles vs. Notre Dame (Sept. 1), Samford (Sept. 8), Duke (Nov. 10) and Georgia (Nov. 24).

2006
Blocked a punt in the Yellow Jackets' victory at 10th-ranked Virginia Tech... gave Tech possession at the Hokies 25-yard line, setting up a touchdown... inserted on the punt block unit in the second game of the season and played in every game thereafter... also earned a spot on the kickoff return unit.
