A hard-nosed runner who has been a solid back-up at B-back as well as a good special teams performer... has played in 26 career games... has battled his way up the depth chart to become one of the top back-ups at B-back... entering his fifth year in the program... came to Tech as a walk-on and was awarded a scholarship prior to the 2013 season.

2014 (senior): Played in all 13 games ... Rushed 21 times for 113 yards and two touchdowns ... Blocked one punt ...Returned one kickoff for 18 yards at Georgia (Nov. 29) ...Rushed 11 times for 46 yards and one touchdown at NC State (Nov. 8) ... Had four carries for seven yards vs. Virginia (Nov. 1) ...Rushed for a career high 56 yards and one touchdown at Pitt (Oct. 25) ...Had one tackle at North Carolina (Oct. 18) ...Saw action against Miami (Oct. 4) ... Returned a kickoff for eight yards at Virginia Tech (Sept. 20) ...Saw action vs. Georgia Southern (Sept. 13) ... Blocked his first career punt and had one punt return for six yards at Tulane (Sept. 6) ... Rushed one time for four yards against Wofford (Aug. 30) in the season opener.

2013 (junior): Played in all 13 games... had 16 rushing attempts for 102 yards (6.4 yards per attempt)... rushed for two touchdowns... had one reception for three yards... recorded two special teams tackles... had five rushing attempts for 17 yards in the season opener vs. Elon (Aug. 31)... caught a pass for three yards at Miami (Oct. 5)... had a career-long 55-yard carry at BYU (Oct. 12)... rushed for two touchdowns vs. Alabama A&M (Nov. 23).

2012 (sophomore): Saw action in 12 games, including each of the last 10 games of the season... had seven rushing attempts for 51 yards and two touchdowns... averaged 7.3 yards per carry and had a long run of 32 yards... rushed two times for a modest five yards and his first career touchdown vs. Presbyterian (Sept. 8)... his breakout game came in the win over Virginia (Sept. 15)... carried four times for 43 yards and a touchdown against the Cavaliers.

2011 (redshirt freshman): Saw action in one game -- vs. Kansas... had one rushing attempt for 12 yards.

2010 (true freshman): Redshirted.

High School: Marist School... earned three varsity letters in football playing for coach Alan Chadwick... played fullback and linebacker... served as a team captain as a senior... led Marist to the state championship game and a regional 6-AAAA title in 2008... a two-time all-regional running back in 2008 and 2009... named All-Dekalb County in 2009... selected to play in the Dekalb County all-star game... named team's most valuable back... left school as the fourth-leading rusher in Marist history... served as a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Board... also ran track one year... track coach was Antonio McKay, the former Georgia Tech great and Olympian.

Personal: Full name is Matthew Robert Connors... born April 21, 1992... parents are Paul and Peggy... Paul played football at Harvard from 1981-85... brother, Paul, attends the University of Georgia and plays on the Bulldogs' club hockey team... chose Georgia Tech for its excellence in academics and football, and proximity to family... majoring in business administration.
