A fifth-year senior who earned a scholarshipprior to the 2014 season... a hard worker who has played a key role on the scout team... comes from Atlanta's Marist School, which has been a pipeline to Tech over the years... a good student who made the Dean's List and the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

2014 (senior): Played in two games -- vs. Wofford and vs. Virginia.

2013 (junior):
Played in three games -- vs. Elon, Syracuse and Alabama A&M... both rushing attempts came vs. Alabama A&M (Nov. 23).

2012 (sophomore): Saw action in one game -- vs. Presbyterian (Sept. 8).

2011 (redshirt freshman): Saw action in two games -- vs. Western Carolina and Kansas.

2010 (true freshman): Redshirted.

High School: Marist School... played four seasons of football for coach Alan Chadwick... served one year as team captain... played quarterback, running back and safety... played in the state championship game as a senior... that game was played in the Georgia Dome... also ran track for three seasons under former Yellow Jacket Antonio McKay.

Personal: Full name is Samuel Joseph Vincent McNearney... parents are Gerry and Lisa... has four siblings -- Gerard, Stephen, Jack and Gus... Stephen graduated from Georgia Tech in 2009... cousin, Mehan Loftis, graduated from Tech in `07... born Aug. 30, 1991 in Overland Park, Kan... lived for three years in Lawrence, Kan... made the Dean's List in the fall of 2012... majoring in management.
