A fifth-year senior who started at outside linebacker in 2012... missing spring drills to recover from injury... coming off a very solid junior season... enters 2013 with 113 career tackles and 12.5 tackles for loss...versatile enough to play any of the linebacker positions.... owns a good blend of size, speed and range... considered one of the most athletic players on the roster.
2012 (junior): Played in all 14 games and started 13 times... recorded 77 tackles... his 8.5 tackles for loss ranked second on the team... had 2.0 sacks and led the team with two forced fumbles... also blocked one kick and had one pass break-up... registered eight tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack in the season opener at Virginia Tech (Sept. 3)... had a career-high nine tackles and a tackle for loss at Clemson (Oct. 6)... recorded a career-high 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack in the win over Boston College (Oct. 20)... matched a career high with nine tackles against BYU (Oct. 27)... had nine tackles, a tackle for loss and a forced fumble in the win over USC in the Hyundai Sun Bowl (Dec. 31).
2011 (sophomore): Played in 11 games and started at Virginia... finished with 15 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, one pass break-up and one forced fumble... recorded four tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in the season opener vs. Western Carolina (Sept. 1)... had two tackles and a sack vs. Kansas (Sept. 17)... recorded three tackles in a win over North Carolina (Sept. 24)... had a sack at NC State (Oct. 1)... registered three tackles at Virginia (Oct. 15).
2010 (redshirt freshman): Played in 12 games and started three times -- at North Carolina, vs. NC State and at Wake Forest... recorded 21 tackles (12 solo tackles) and one tackle for loss... had a tackle for loss in his first college game, vs. South Carolina State in the season opener (Sept. 4)... registered six tackles (four solo tackles) in his first career start, a win at North Carolina (Sept. 18)... had six tackles (four solo tackles) vs. NC State (Sept. 25).
2009 (true freshman): Redshirted.
High School: Washington County HS... a Scout.com three-star recruit... No. 30 weakside linebacker in the nation (Scout.com)... No. 49 outside linebacker nationally (ESPN.com)... recorded 86 tackles, nine tackles for loss and three interceptions; three rushing touchdowns as a quarterback as a senior in 2008... played in only eight games in 2008 because of a torn labrum in shoulder... honorable mention All-State (GHSA)... Augusta Chronicle All-Georgia Team... Region 3AAA Defensive Player of the Year... first team All-Middle Georgia... earned four varsity letters in football, playing quarterback and safety, and served two years as a team captain... had single-game highs of two interceptions and 20 tackles... ran track for four years (sprinter) and played basketball for two seasons... wore No. 10 in high school, the same number worn by his cousin, Stacy Walls.
