AT TECH: A tenacious, strong and remarkably athletic inside linebacker... considered by many as one of the nation's best-blitzing linebackers... extremely difficult to knock off his feet... a three-year starter... began his career as an outside linebacker before moving to the middle... was on the 2007 preseason watch list for the Bednarik, Nagurski and Lombardi awards... has 38 career starts including 27 consecutive... played in 51 career games... selected to play in the Senior Bowl, where he made three solo tackles.
2007: Started all 13 games and rarely came out of a game... led the team in total tackles (89) -- 11 more than any other Yellow Jacket... 46 of his 89 tackles were solos... among the team leaders in TFLs (9.0)... averaged 0.5 sacks per game... recovered two fumbles and forced one fumble... recorded a sack and recovered a fumble in Tech's dominating season-opening win at Notre Dame (Sept. 1)... had nine total tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack and one forced fumble at Virginia (Sept. 22)... disrupted Clemson's offense and the Tigers previously unblemished record (Sept. 29)... sacked Tiger QB Cullen Harper 2.5 times for 17 yards and he also broke up a pass... recorded seven total tackles and a sack at Duke (Nov. 10)... played his heart out in his final home game vs. Georgia (Nov. 24)... produced 10 solo tackles (11 total) and a tackle-for-loss against the Bulldogs... played very well in final college game, the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho... had a game-high 11 tackles, including six solo tackles.
2006: Second-team all-America by Rivals . . . Second-team all-Atlantic Coast Conference . . . Mid-Season All-America (first-team) by SI.com; also a second-team choice by College Football News . . . The No. 18 player in the nation on the "Mid-Season Hot 100" by ESPN.com.
Tech's leader in sacks with 9.0 and tackles for loss (14.5), ranking fourth in the ACC in both categories . . . His nine sacks equal the 10th-best season total in school history . . . Second on the team in tackles with 89 . . . Also had five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble . . . Game-high 13 tackles with two tackles for loss as Tech held No. 2 Notre Dame to 14 points.
Named Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week and ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week after leading Jackets to win at No. 10 Virginia Tech . . . Caused a fumble that Tech returned for a touchdown and had eight tackles and two sacks against the Hokies . . . Had three sacks in Tech's win over Miami and was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for second time this season . . . Recovered fumbles against Clemson and Troy . . . Had 10 tackles with two tackles for loss, including one sack, against West Virginia.
2005: Tied for fourth in the ACC with four interceptions, sharing the team lead with safety Dawan Landry . . . Also had 10.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery . . . Key performer on a Tech defense that ranked in the Top 25 nationally in rushing defense (13th), total defense (22nd), scoring defense (23rd) pass efficiency defense (23rd), and turnover margin (16th) . . .
Had eight tackles with three tackles for loss and two sacks in Tech's outstanding defensive effort in defeating No. 3 Miami . . . Helped the Jackets hold Miami to 237 total yards and just 30 yards rushing . . . Another standout performance in helping Tech to a 10-9 victory over Clemson with a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery that set up a field goal . . . Had one of Tech's four interceptions in win over Auburn . . . Added another pick in the Jackets' win over Connecticut, one versus NC State and one versus Duke . . . Career-high 11 tackles against Virginia . . . Had two tackles for loss against Wake Forest . . . Redshirted in 2004.
2003: Played as a true freshman in 2003 . . . Saw most of his action on special teams but did see limited duty on defense . . . Credited with six tackles on the season.
