MISCELLANEOUS NOTES • Georgia Tech captains for #DUKEvsGT: Shaquille Mason, Quayshawn Nealy, Justin Thomas.  • Saturday was the 82nd meeting and the 32nd as ACC Coastal Rivals. • Georgia Tech leads the series 50-31-1 and is 28-13-1 at home against Duke.   • Georgia Tech has won 18 of the last 20 meetings.  • Paul Johnson is 6-1 all-time against Duke • The loss to the Blue Devils snapped a Yellow Jacket 10 game winning streak.  • There was a weather delay that began at the end of halftime that lasted 77 minutes due to lightning strikes in the vicinity of the stadium. It began at 2:15 p.m. and ended at 3:32 p.m.    TEAM NOTES • Georgia Tech has played 217 consecutive games without being shut out and Georgia Tech hasn’t been shut out at home since Nov. 30, 1957 – a streak of 355 consecutive home games at Bobby Dodd Stadium.  • Senior safety Jamal Golden had a 68-yard kickoff return which is the second-longest play of the season for the Jackets after DeAndre Smelter’s 71-yard touchdown reception against Wofford.  • Georgia Tech fumbled for only the fourth time this season against Duke.  • Georgia Tech entered the game leading the nation in third-down conversions with a 58.1 conversion percentage (36 of 62). Against Duke, Tech was 7-of-11 (63.6%) on third-down conversions.   • The Yellow Jackets passed a season-high 26 times and had a season – high 14 completions. Eight of those completions came in the final 8:13 minutes of the game.   INDIVIDUAL NOTES •  Redshirt sophomore QB Justin Thomas now has 589 rushing yards this season which ranks seventh on Georgia Tech’s single-season list for QBs.  • Thomas’ 823 career rushing yards ranks eighth all-time for QBs at Georgia Tech.   • Thomas recorded his third 100-yard rushing game of the season against Duke with 119 rushing yards.  • Redshirt junior QB Tim Byerly threw two completions for 29 yards , rushed for an 11-yard touchdown and 37 yards overall, and had once reception for 15 yards during a nine play, 73 yard scoring drive.   • Byerly threw a career-high seven completions for a career-high 125 yards, rushed for 30 yards and tied his career-high of two touchdowns against the Blue Devils.  Prior to today’s game, Byerly had only thrown one completion for three yards.  • Senior safety Isaiah Johnson has 232 career tackles which ties him for 10th on the Georgia Tech list for career tackles by a defensive back.  • Senior B-back Zach Laskey now ranks 21st on Georgia Tech’s all-time rushing list with 1,703 career rushing yards after 72 yards against Duke.  Laskey has lost 2 yards on 105 carries this season.   • Laskey scored his third touchdown of the season and 11th of his career on a four-yard run with 40 seconds left in the first half.  • Senior wide receiver Darren Waller hauled in a career-high five receptions for a career-best 96 yards. He had 70 receiving yards in the final 8:13 of the game.   • Redshirt senior A-back Deon Hill recorded career bests in receptions, three, receiving yards, 48, and longest catch, 29, while running one times for five yards against Duke.   • Sophomore kicker Harrison Butker is 11th on Tech’s career points by kicking list with 125. • Senior defensive end Kyle Travis had a career-high four tackles and his first career tackle for loss against Duke in his second career start.  • Redshirt senior Demond Smith tied his career-high seven tackles.  • Freshman defensive back Lawrence Austin recorded a career-best five tackles.  • Redshirt freshman Eason Fromayan made his first career start at left tackle. This was the first time there was a different starter on the offensive line all season.  • Wide receiver DeAndre Smelter had a career-long rush of 21 yards and racked up 21 receiving yards on two catches against Duke.  • Junior defensive tackle Adam Gotsis started in his 20th consecutive game. • Offensive lineman Shaquille Mason made his team-leading 31st consecutive start.
