Opening Statement:
“It was a heck of a game. It was kind of a rough start and there was a lot of offense [played] in the game. I’m happy to win and stay alive in the conference race so we can become bowl eligible–which would be for the eighteenth year in a row. I think that’s big. [This win] makes the game next week even more important. There are a lot of things that we can correct but, it’s easier to correct them when we win compared to when we lose.”

On using his timeout after the delay of game penalty in the second quarter:
“The first play [I wanted to run] we had called, but I thought he ran out the clock again. I was watching the 25 second clock so I didn’t want to run the same play. I thought [Pitt] might have [read it] so we ran an opposite play. We had to give ourselves options.”

On the need to score after the penalty:
“I was just watching the game. It wasn’t much use to punt.”

On his reaction to the series of fumbles in the first quarter:
“I don’t think we’ve had a fumble all year for a recovery. Now we just got all of ours in one quarter. The best thing was, we were able to capitalize on it. We were able to go and score touchdowns. But to [Pitt’s] credit they fought back.”

On Isaiah Johnson’s performance:
“I thought he played well. You normally wouldn’t like your safety to have to make 14 tackles–but I thought he played well.”

On Broderick Snoddy’s performance:
“Broderick had some nice runs. I think that he brings something to the table that maybe some of our other guys don’t have. I was proud of him [tonight]. He has great speed when he uses it.”

On how the defense maintained energy throughout the game:
“I don’t think so. [We] were either fumbling or scoring.”

On if he thought he would win given his latest losses:
“Winning is hard. It’s never easy to win. Coming into the game, [Pitt’s] defense was ranked fourth in the country and they were in the top 10 in third downs. So to come in and play as well as we did offensively–I’m happy. We should have had a clean game. We had one turnover. Defensively, we did enough to win the game. We still have some things we need to clean up and work on.”
