POSTGAME NOTES
#16 GEORGIA TECH YELLOW JACKETS (10-0) 30, #9 GEORGIA BULLDOGS (9-3) 24
NOVEMBER 29, 2014 • ATHENS, GA. • SANFORD STADIUM (92,746)

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
• Georgia Tech captains: senior LB Quayshawn Nealy, senior RG Shaquille Mason, and sophomore QB Justin Thomas
• Georgia Tech is now 5-7 all-time in OT games. It was Tech’s first OT win since Nov. 7, 2009 vs. Wake Forest (30-27). Tech had lost its last four OT games prior to Saturday – Utah (2011 Sun Bowl), at Virginia Tech (2012), Miami (2012), and Georgia (2013).
• Saturday was the 109th edition of “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” – the most-played rivalry in Georgia Tech history.
• Georgia leads the all-time series, 64-40-5, and holds a 30-14-1 advantage in Athens.
• The win snapped Tech’s five-game losing streak to Georgia. Tech is now 4-5 in its last nine trips to Athens, including a 2-2 mark under head coach Paul Johnson.
• Georgia Tech has reached the 10-win mark for only the ninth time in school history – 1928 (10-0), 1947 (10-1), 1951 (11-0-1), 1952 (12-0), 1956 (10-1), 1990 (11-0-1), 1998 (10-2), 2009 (11-3), and 2014.
• Damian Swann’s 99-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the third quarter is longest fumble return ever by a Georgia Tech opponent.

TEAM NOTES
• Georgia Tech has played 223 consecutive games without being shut out – the second-longest active streak in the ACC. The Jackets haven’t been shut out since Oct. 18, 1997 at Florida State.
• Georgia scored on its first possession, becoming the first Georgia Tech to score on its first possession since Miami. It snapped a streak of six straight games with an opponent not scoring on its first possession. Only four teams have scored on their first possession this season vs. Georgia Tech – Tulane (TD), at Virginia Tech (FB), Miami (TD) and at Georgia (TD).
• Georgia Tech has at least one takeaway in six straight games.
• Georgia Tech is now 37-9 in the Paul Johnson era when rushing for 300+ yards, including a 12-2 mark in the last 14 games.
• Georgia Tech was held scoreless in the 1Q for the time since Nov. 14, 2013, at Clemson, and the first time in a non-conference game since Nov. 26, 2011, vs. Georgia.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Sophomore QB Justin Thomas is now tied for sixth on Tech’s single-season list with 16 passing TDs, tying Eddie McAshan (1972) and Reggie Ball (2004).
• Senior Zach Laskey rushed for a career-high 140 yards and a career-high 3 TDs. His previous career high was 133 yards set earlier this year vs. Miami.
• Laskey moved up to 15th on Tech’s career rushing list with 1,930 yards – passing Leon Hardeman (1,794), Orwin Smith (1,839), and Roddy Jones (1,846).
• Junior DE Adam Gotsis blocked his second kick of the season.
• Senior LB Tremayne McNair recorded his career-first sack.
• Junior DB D.J. White recorded his fourth career INT to win the game in OT for Tech.
