THE FLATS – Game promotions have been added to Georgia Tech’s 2015 home football schedule. Georgia Tech will play seven home games for the fourth time in five years.

Home games against defending ACC champion Florida State and in-state rival Georgia, plus road games at Notre Dame, Miami and Clemson highlight Georgia Tech’s 2015 football schedule released in January.

Georgia Tech (11-3), which won 11 games for the fifth time in school history en route to the 2014 Capital One Orange Bowl championship last season, opens the 2015 campaign on Thu., Sept. 3 against Alcorn State. The Braves are the first of Tech’s four non-conference opponents in 2015 – Tulane (Sept. 12), at Notre Dame (Sept. 19), and Georgia (Nov. 28).

Georgia Tech’s game vs. Tulane will be Heroes Day when the Jackets recognize service men and women and first responders who help protect our nation. Tech’s final home game against the Bulldogs will be Michael Isenhour Toy Drive and Senior Salute.

The Yellow Jackets’ eight-game ACC schedule includes home games against North Carolina (Oct. 3), Pitt (Oct. 17), Florida State (Oct. 24), and Virginia Tech (Nov. 12). Tech’s ACC road schedule features games at Duke (Sept. 26), Clemson (Oct. 10), Virginia (Oct. 31), and Miami (Nov. 21).

The UNC game will be Family Weekend, while the Pitt game will be Hall of Fame Game. That weekend, the Jackets will recognize the latest inductees into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame.

Florida State will serve as both Homecoming and the Jackets’ annual White Out game (#GTWhiteOut).

Tech’s Nov. 12 game vs. Virginia Tech will be an ESPN Thursday Night telecast, the Jackets’ 27th appearance on ESPN’s Thursday night programming – the second-most appearances among FBS schools behind, coincidentally, Virginia Tech.

The 1990 National Championship team will be honored during Georgia Tech’s Thursday Night game vs. Virginia Tech.

In 2015, ACC teams will play a higher percentage of Power Five Conference teams (38%) than any other Power Five Conference. ACC teams will also play games against opponents who had a higher FBS (.536) and overall (.536) winning percentage in 2014 than any other Power Five Conference.

ACC teams will also play 24 games against non-conference opponents that played in bowl games in 2014. That total is the second-highest total of any Power Five Conference.

Nine of Georgia Tech’s 12 opponents played in a bowl game last season – second-most among ACC schools.Other schedule notes include:
