Jeremiah Attaochu Named To Nagurski Trophy Watch List

Senior DE Jeremiah Attaochu has logged 19.0 career sacks.

THE FLATS - The preseason honors continue to roll in for Georgia Tech senior defensive end Jeremiah Attaochu, who has been named to the preseason watch list for the Bronco Nagurski Trophy presented to the National Defensive Player of the Year by the Charlotte Touchdown Club and the Football Writers Association of America.

Attaochu, who moved from outside linebacker to defensive end in the spring, enters his final season with 19.0 career sacks (tied for eighth in Georgia Tech history) and 27.5 tackles for loss. The senior from Washington, D.C., is a two-time All-ACC selection.

In addition to the Nagurski watch list, Attaochu is a first team All-ACC pick by Phil Steele's magazine and is on the preseason watch list for the Bednarik Award (top defensive player).

The Nagurski watch list includes 81 players nationally, and Attaochu is one of 12 from the ACC.

Georgia Tech, which defeated USC in last year's Hyundai Sun Bowl and has played in 16 consecutive bowl games, opens its 2013 season Saturday, August 31 by hosting Elon at 12 p.m. The Yellow Jackets' annual Fan Day is set for Saturday, August 3 at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
