SOLD OUT: Georgia Tech sells allotment of Chick-fil-A Bowl tickets

ATLANTA - Georgia Tech has sold its entire allotment of tickets for the December 31 Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome against LSU, athletic director Dan Radakovich confirmed Tuesday morning.
Since accepting the invitation to play in the 41st annual Chick-fil-A Bowl last Wednesday, Georgia Tech sold all 17,500 tickets in less than four business days.
"The Chick-fil-A Bowl has assembled what promises to be one of the most competitive and entertaining games of the bowl season," Radakovich said, "and our fans are excited to be a part of it, spending New Year's Eve with the Yellow Jackets. This game, and our fans' response, gives us great momentum heading into 2009."
Georgia Tech officials are working with various entities in an attempt to obtain an additional 2,000 tickets to accommodate the overwhelming response by Yellow Jacket fans.
"Coach Paul Johnson, his staff and players have performed better than anyone could have predicted this season," Radakovich said. "I think we are all anxious to see the team in action one more time, against the defending national champions."
Tech's allotment of 17,500 tickets include: 7,924 upper level end zone seats; 5,462 lower level end zone seats; 1,000 lower level sideline seats; and 3,114 end zone seats. The lower level sideline and end zone club seats were sold out during the pre-order open to season ticket-holders. The remainder of the tickets sold out on Monday.
Georgia Tech, 9-3 overall and ranked 14th in the BCS standings and 14th in the Associated Press poll, are playing in a bowl game for the 12th consecutive season.
Georgia Tech, ranked 14th in the final BCS standings, will play LSU at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. The game will be televised nationally by ESPN.
