THE FLATS – They all had near aces at the loud and boisterous 16th hole over the weekend, and Ollie Schniederjans, Chesson Hadley and Matt Kuchar all stayed in contention late Sunday and finished in the top five of last weekend’s Waste Management Phoenix Open … Former Tech All-American Charlie Rymer makes his PGA Tour Champions debut this week … This and more in this week’s Georgia Tech #ProJackets Report.

Schniederjans, in his second full year on Tour, stayed near the top of the leaderboard all weekend, firing rounds of 68-68-68 before going even lower on Sunday with a 65. He jumped 30 spots to No. 27 in the FedEx Cup standings following his best finish of the year to date. The Tech All-American has two top-10 finishes in three 2018 events to go with three top-25 finishes from the fall, and he surpassed $3 million in career earnings this weekend.

Kuchar gave himself a chance on Sunday by firing a 7-under-par 64 on Saturday, but couldn’t quite duplicate that Sunday after posting a 67 that included a near hole-in-one at the par-3 16th. The 2016 U.S. Olympian and four-time Ryder Cup team member leaped nearly 70 positions in the FedEx Cup race to 77th.

Hadley, who at No. 14 has the highest position in the FedEx Cup race of all the former Yellow Jackets, shot 66-68-68-68 in the tournament. In just eight events, Hadley has a runner-up finish and a third-place finish among four top-10 showings this season, and has accumulated $1,452,137 in earnings, less than $300,000 off his career high of the $1,703,316 he earned over 29 tournaments in 2014.

The Tour moves to Northern California this weekend for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where David Duval will compete for the first time this year, joining Hadley, Stewart Cink, Cameron Tringale and Richy Werenski.

Web.com Tour: Anders Albertson has gotten off to a solid start to 2018, posting a tie for 25th and a tie for 17th in his two events. The Tech All-American finished last weekend’s Panama Championship with scores of 69-70-68 to post a 281 (+1). Taking his first round out in each tournament, Albertson has averaged 68.7 in rounds two through four and stands 40th in earnings. The Web.com Tour moves South to Colombia this weekend, with Albertson, Roberto Castro, Seth Reeves and Nicholas Thompson all in the field, before taking a three-week break.

PGA Tour Champions: Charlie Rymer, a two-time All-American at Georgia Tech and an analyst at Golf Channel for the last 10 years, has dusted off his golf clubs and will play in five Champions Tour events this year, beginning with this weekend’s Boca Raton Championship at the Old Course at Broken Sound. The Tech Sports Hall of Fame member also will compete in the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, April 13-15 at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga., before moving on to three other events later this year, all while continuing his on-air schedule with Golf Channel.
