@GT_Golf - #ProJackets Update

March 10, 2015

THE FLATS – Matt Kuchar and Cameron Tringale each turned in solid performances in last weekend’s first World Golf Championship event, the Cadillac Championship, while four former Yellow Jackets earned money at the alternate Puerto Rico Open.

Kuchar tied for 23rd place, his sixth top-25 finish in seven events this season, with a 2-over-par score of 290 on the difficult Trump National Doral Course, while Tringale tied for 38th at 4-over 292. Kuchar held position in the FedEx Cup rankings at No. 23, while Tringale inched up nine spots to No. 100.

Chesson Hadley didn’t successfully defend his 2014 title at the Puerto Rico Open, but he did record the highest finish – a tie for 16th (4-under 284) – among six former Jackets in the field. Troy Matteson (T-23) and Roberto Castro (T-27) took advantage of the opportunity to make a PGA Tour start to record their best finishes of the season, each breaking par, while four-time All-American David Duval tied for 47th (even-par 288).

Stewart Cink is back in action this week along with Hadley, Kuchar, Molder, Tringale and Nicholas Thompson in the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla. Tech senior Ollie Schniederjans also is in the field as an amateur (see story below).

John-Tyler Griffin (T-19) and Bo Andrews (T-31) continued to cash checks with solid performances in their home state in the eGolf Tour’s Mid-Pines Classic in Southern Pines, N.C.

Meanwhile, Richard Werenski and Matt Weibring both failed to make the cut last weekend in the Karibana Championship in Cartagena, Columbia. Both players will try again this week in the Brasil Champions presented by HSBC in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Seth Reeves and James White, after a week off, are back in action his week on the SwingThought.com Tour with the Cardinal Classic at Diamondhead in Diamondhead, Miss.
