THE FLATS – Nicholas Thompson and Chesson Hadley both played on the weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last weekend, while Richard Werenski tied for 36th at the Chile Classic on the Web.com Tour.
Thompson was consistent throughout the weekend with scores of 70-71-69-72 for a 6-under-par total of 282 to tie for 35th, while Hadley tied for 67th after struggling to a 77 Sunday.
Werenski, who continues to advance in the Golf Channel’s reality program, “Big Break the Palm Beaches,” shot three rounds in the 60s at the Chile Classic and finished at 9-under-par 275.
Champions Tour veteran Larry Mize made his third cut in three events with a tie for 64th in the Tucson Conquistadores Classic.
Meanwhile, James White tied for ninth place at the Pine Classic on the SwingThought.com Tour, and Shun Yat Hak, who as a freshman helped Georgia Tech to the semi-finals of the 2013 NCAA Championship, earned his highest finish on that tour with a tie for 16th.
John-Tyler Griffin tied for 20th at the Nova Tax Group Open on the eGolf Tour.
The PGA Tour moves to Texas for its next two stops, and Hadley, Thompson, Matt Kuchar, Bryce Molder and Cameron Tringale are in the field for the Valero Texas Open. Roberto Castro and Matt Weibring join Werenski as the Web.com Tour moves into Louisiana this weekend. The eGolf Tour and SwingThought.com Tour take this weekend off before resuming competition the first weekend of April.
