Complete Capitol One Academic All-District At-Large Teams

THE FLATS – Anders Albertson of Georgia Tech has been named to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

The Academic All-District® teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America ® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools. To be considered, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and hold a 3.3 or higher grade-point average on a scale of 4.0. His selection to the all-district team makes him eligible to be named to the Capitol One Academic All-America team.

Albertson, a senior from Woodstock, Ga., who graduated May 2 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, was one of 12 student-athletes named to the District 4 team, which encompasses Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. The At-Large team includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball and wrestling.

In April, Albertson won the Byron Nelson Award, given annually to the nation’s top graduating senior golfer, taking into consideration athletic and academic performance, as well as community service. A mainstay in the Georgia Tech lineup, Albertson has never missed a tournament for the Yellow Jackets. He’s a two-time All-America selection and earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors four times. He has three career tournament victories, including the 2013 and 2015 ACC Championship.

Albertson is a four-time selection to the ACC Academic Honor Roll. Albertson was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar in 2014 and to the ACC All-Academic golf team three times.
