Nissan #ProJackets Golf Report

THE FLATS – Four former Yellow Jackets were in the field at The Players Championship last weekend in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., and Cameron Tringale and Roberto Castro played through the weekend to make marginal gains in their FedEx Cup standing.

Tringale tied for 35th place with a 290 (+2) score, while Castro tied for 56th at 294 (+6). Matt Kuchar made the Friday cut but not the Saturday cut after shooting 81 Saturday, and Bryce Molder missed the initial cut.

All but Castro move on to this week’s AT&T Byron Nelson in Irving, Texas, joined by Ollie Schniederjans and Richy Werenski, who last played at the Wells Fargo Championship. Castro returns to action in three weeks at The Memorial Tournament.

U.S. Open qualifying: Rising Yellow Jacket seniors James Clark and Michael Pisciotta both advanced out of separate U.S. Open local qualifiers in the last 10 days. Clark tied for fifth and made it out of the qualifier in Newnan, Ga., while Pisciotta tied for second and advanced from the qualifier at Stone Mountain. Former Jackets/current pros Kyle Scott and James White did not advance at Stone Mountain. Matt Kuchar and Roberto Castro are the only Jacket alums currently exempt into the field for the 117th U.S. Open, to be conducted June 15-18 at Erin Hills in Erin, Wis.
