Sugar Grove, Ill. – Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans easily won his singles match Sunday and helped his college coach, Bruce Heppler, complete a successful second stint as the United States coach with an 18-12 victory over Europe in the 2015 Palmer Cup matches at Rich Harvest Farms.

Europe won five of the 10 singles matches Sunday, and halved another, but it was not nearly enough to overcome the commanding USA lead as the Americans won the Cup for the first time since 2013. Heppler finished a successful weekend as the USA coach behind singles victories from Schniederjans, Vanderbilt’s Hunter Stewart, Texas’ Beau Hossler and Alabama’s Robby Shelton. Georgia’s Lee McCoy halved his match with the world’s top amateur, Jon Rahm.

One day after knocking off Rahm himself, Schniederjans rolled against Max Rottluff of Germany, ranked 31st in the world, by a score of 5 and 3. The May graduate from Powder Springs, Ga., won the first three holes in the match and never let up, closing out the contest with a birdie at the par-3 13th and a par at the par-4 15th. Schniederjans went 3-1 in this year’s Palmer Cup and improved to 6-2 for his career.

France’s Clement Sordet avenged his Saturday loss to Anders Albertson, first off the tee for the American side on Sunday, 2 and 1. The Tech graduate from Woodstock, Ga., trailed from the start but never let Sordet off the hook until the 17th hole. Albertson finished the weekend 2-2.
