Nissan #ProJackets Golf Report

June 27, 2017

THE FLATS – Many of Georgia Tech’s alumni on tour took last weekend off, but Bryce Molder and Anders Albertson continued to compete and posted a couple of their better performances of the season, respectively, on the PGA and Web.com Tours.

Albertson, looking for a breakthrough performance to boost his chances of reaching the top 25 on the Web.com Tour, made a big jump in that direction by tying for fifth place at the Lincoln Land Charity Championship in Springfield, Ill. A two-time ACC Champion and four-time All-ACC performer at Tech, Albertson shot 67-66-70-68 to finish at 13-under-par 271, one stroke out of a four-way playoff for the title. He jumped from 89th to 60th in earnings on the Web.com Tour.

Meanwhile, Chesson Hadley tied for 38th and held his position at No. 19. Both move on to the fifth stop in a 14-consecutive-week run on the tour, the Nashville Golf Open, along with Seth Reeves (No. 34) and Nicholas Thompson (No. 26).

In the opening round of the 2017 Lincoln Land Charity Championship, Anders Albertson makes a beautiful read for a birdie on the par-4 18th hole.

It has been a struggle this season for Molder, who began the week No. 182 in the FedEx Cup points standings on the PGA Tour, but he moved up to No. 169 by tying for 26th place at the Travelers Championship (5-under 275), his highest finish in 21 events during the 2016-17 season. He made his 10th cut after missing his last four in a row.

Molder is back in action this week at the Quicken Loans National in Potomac, Md., along with Roberto Castro, Ollie Schniederjans and Cameron Tringale.

Castro took last week off to practice at Georgia Tech’s Noonan Golf Facility, visit a junior golf event and address some rumors.

Always fun hanging with the juniors @AnsleyGC. Had some popsicles, hit some balls, and answered some questions about Rickie. #juniorGolf pic.twitter.com/Pfnjo16It7

I just want to address all the rumors flying around. I'm firmly committed to @Rustyonthebag and will not be working with Bones. Thank you.

PGA Tour Champions: Larry Mize continues on course to post his highest finish in the Schwab Cup standings since 2012. The 1987 Masters champion tied for 13th in last week’s American Family Insurance Championship and inched up to 43rd this week, one notch above 2016. Mize finished 29th in 2012 and 41st the year before that. The highest finish of his career has been sixth in 2009.
