It is the fifth time in Tech golf history that three or more of its players have been named All-America Scholars. Four Tech players earned the distinction in 2014, and three Yellow Jackets were honored in 2005, 2006 and 2008. All five Jacket starters in the NCAA Championship made the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic golf team in June, while Albertson was named ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the sport.

Tech finished the 2014-15 academic year ranked No. 9 in the nation by both Golfweek magazine and Golfstat, winning four tournaments and capturing the program’s 16th ACC title. Schniederjans was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year and a first-team All-American, while Albertson won the Byron Nelson Award and was named to the All-ACC team for the fourth time.

All three players graduated with honors from Tech on May 2. Albertson turned pro following the NCAA Championship, while Schniederjans begins his pro career this week after making the cut in the U.S., Scottish and British Open championships as an amateur.

A total of 206 players in Division I, 91 in Division II and 17 in NAIA earned the honor. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
