THE FLATS - Georgia Tech's golf program has added two more highly-ranked players from the state of Georgia with the signing of Tyler Joiner of Leesburg and Tye Waller of Griffin to letters-of-intent during the early signing period.

Joiner is the No. 2-ranked player in the state, No. 23 in the class of 2015 and No. 31 overall according to the Junior Golf Scoreboard. He will join his brother, Jacob, who is a freshman on the current Tech team. Joiner, who is home schooled, earned five top-10 finishes in seven national junior events in 2014, and has won four state or regional junior events in the last five years.

Waller, who attends Spalding High School, is ranked No. 6 in Georgia, No. 55 in his class and No. 93 overall by the Junior Golf Scoreboard. He has posted three top-5 finished in seven events in 2014, and has won seven state or regional junior events in the last four years.

"We're excited to add two more quality players form the state of Georgia," said head coach Bruce Heppler, whose Tech program has won 10 ACC titles in his 19 years on The Flats and won 45 team titles overall. "That's where our recruiting starts every year. They both have had tremendous success in state and national junior events.

"It's the first time since we've had a brother of one of our current players join the program since I've been here. If Tyler has the same characteristics that his brother has exhibited here this fall, he'll be a great addition to our program. Tye Waller has been as consistent in state-wide junior tournaments the last couple of years as anybody in his class. Both of them have exceptional fundamentals, and we believe they have a chance to improve tremendously once they get here. They should both have a chance to contribute immediately."

Heppler and associate head coach Brennan Webb successfully recruited four top-50 players last year, three from the state of Georgia, and the current Yellow Jackets' roster has seven Georgians on it.
